Lakes, Reservoirs & Waterscapes

Whitnell Contracts are hugely experienced in the creation of Lakes, Reservoirs and Watercourses; we have built in excess of 200 lakes and reservoirs, without a single problem after creation.

Many of these have been for golf courses, where the appearance of the lake is extremely important. Not only are we experts at installation of the lakes, we can add features such as pebbling, sleeper edging, even waterfalls to increase the attractiveness of the lake, as well as re-seeding the edge to give the watercourse an established appearance.

Chiswick Park, Chiswick

We worked in partnership with Landline to create a feature lake in Chiswick Park. This project involved creating, at the time, the largest artificial waterfall in England! Other tasks undertaken were shaping and contouring of the lake, rock placement and stone layer and pebbling to the edges with Scottish Pebbles.

Toyota- Epsom, UK Headquarters

We again worked with Landline to create a feature lake adjacent to the Toyota building in Epsom.

The work involved in creating this lake includes all groundworks, shaping of the lake, sleeper edging, a blinding layer and cobbles to the architects design.

Wallasea Island Sea Defences

We were commissioned to construct a new secondary sea defence at Wallasea Island so that the first wall could be breached and the land between flooded, to create a wetland bird habitat while simultaneously easing the strain on the flood defences along the River Crouch.

Assington Mill

We were commissioned to rejuvenate the Mill Pond at Assington Mill. This involved De-silting, reshaping and contour work and reseeding the lake to re-establish it after the works had taken place.
